a16z’s Three Phases of AI in Marketing

Andreessen Horowitz outlines the transformative journey of Generative AI in marketing into three distinct phases:

  1.  CopilotsCurrent Phase. Tools like Jasper and CopyAI automate content creation, allowing marketers to focus on strategy. These copilots also handle audience segmentation and real-time data iteration.

  2.  AgentsEmerging Phase. AI agents will automate end-to-end tasks, from A/B testing to personalized content delivery, enhancing one-to-one marketing.

  3.  Autonomous TeamsFuture Phase. AI agents will fully manage marketing operations, from strategy to execution, optimizing across all channels autonomously.

Are Perplexity Pages An SEO Game Changer?

Ruben Hassid dropped a bombshell on X—Perplexity has launched Pages, and it could flip the SEO world on its head. You can turn your research into visually stunning articles on Perplexity’s domain. It's like creating a Wikipedia page, but AI is writing it for you.

Kristi Hines highlights that Perplexity Pages are quickly indexed in Google search results pages, and now appear in featured snippets and AI Overviews, potentially boosting keyword rankings.

Marketing idea: I’d rather have a page on my own website ranking, but for keywords that are too competitive, Perplexity Pages could be a good play.

AI at Work Is Here. Now Comes the Hard Part.

Microsoft and LinkedIn’s 2024 Work Trend Index shows generative AI use has skyrocketed, with 75% of knowledge workers now onboard. But here’s the kicker: leaders are stuck in neutral, lacking a clear AI strategy. The challenge? Move beyond mere experimentation to real business transformation. The future's AI-driven, and those who adapt will thrive.

Salesforce: Is Generative AI Marketer's New Best Friend or Foe?

Marketers are buzzing about generative AI, expecting it to save over five hours of work weekly (more than a month per year!). Yet, 39% are clueless about safe usage, raising red flags on accuracy. The verdict? According to Salesforce Research, AI is a game-changer, but human oversight and quality data are non-negotiable.

Unlocking the Power of AI for Go-to-Market Advantages

Tomasz Tunguz share how AI can revolutionize sales and marketing processes:

  • Parallelization—AI enables multitasking, allowing sellers to approve content instead of creating it, drastically increasing efficiency.

  • Pattern Matching—AI helps identify strategic accounts to prioritize, mimicking the intuition of top salespeople.

  • Process Ownership—AI can automate repetitive tasks, freeing up human resources for strategic thinking.

  • Funnel Efficiency—Use AI to analyze and optimize conversion funnels, reducing customer acquisition costs.

My take: There isn’t a proven playbook for AI in GTM yet. What to automate, how to automate, what tools to use, how to manage it—all TBD. That’s why AI is so fun right now :)

  • Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, emphasizes that AI's potential lies not just in replacing existing tasks but in enabling organizations to solve new problems. Levie suggests that enterprises should focus on the novel capabilities AI brings, rather than just its ability to replace current work.

  • BrightEdge's research reveals that Google’s AI Overviews are more prevalent in healthcare queries, appearing 63% of the time, compared to 32% for B2B technology, and 23% for eCommerce.

  • Peter Thiel says AI is bad news for people with strong math skills and society is going to shift in favor of people with strong verbal skills.
